Cryolipolysis 360°: what it is and how long results last

Cryolipolysis (popularly known by the brand CoolSculpting®) is one of the most sought-after non-invasive treatments for localized fat, and also one of the most surrounded by doubts: does freezing fat actually work? Is it permanent? Does it hurt? This guide answers with what actually happens during the procedure.

How it works

Fat cells are more sensitive to extreme cold than the surrounding tissue (skin, muscle, nerves). Cryolipolysis takes advantage of that difference: it cools the treated area down to -18°C in a controlled way, enough to damage fat cells without affecting the skin or surrounding tissue. Over the following weeks, the body naturally eliminates those damaged cells through the lymphatic system — the same process it uses to dispose of any dead cell.

What does "360°" mean?

Unlike applicators that only treat a fixed spot, the 360° version covers the entire circumference of the area — for example, the whole contour of the abdomen or flank, not just the front. That gives a more even result, with no "steps" between the treated area and the untreated one.

Are the results permanent?

Yes, with one important condition: the eliminated fat cells don't come back, but remaining fat cells in the body can still grow if you gain weight afterward. Cryolipolysis isn't a weight-loss method — it's meant to eliminate diet- and exercise-resistant localized fat in specific areas, provided you maintain a stable weight afterward.

How long until results show?

The process of eliminating the damaged cells takes weeks, so the result is gradual — it starts showing around 3 weeks and keeps improving for up to 2-3 months after the session, as the body finishes processing the eliminated fat.

What does the session feel like?

The session lasts 35 to 60 minutes. At first you feel intense cold in the area, which numbs quickly from the treatment's own effect — after the first few minutes, most patients feel no discomfort. It's common to check your phone or just relax during the session.

Who is it for, and who isn't it for?

It's ideal for resistant localized fat — that area that won't budge with diet or exercise — not for sagging fat or loose skin, where other treatments (like radiofrequency) are a better fit. An assessment before treatment helps confirm whether your case is an ideal candidate.

In summary

360° cryolipolysis is one of the few non-invasive treatments with truly permanent results for localized fat, as long as you maintain a stable weight afterward. If you want to know whether your area is a candidate, message us on WhatsApp and book your assessment.
